UC Path Financial Reporting

To systematize and facilitate the UC Path Operations Account budget review process, a dashboard was created to visually represent the data and associated trends. Please click here to access the UCPath dashboard.

ACT Financial Reporting and Reconciliation

To ensure that the ledger reconciliation process — an essential task for effective internal controls related to the budget review process — is completed in a timely and efficient manner, a series of reports was developed for the Administrative Coordination Team (ACT).  These reports were created with the following elements in mind to provide for a successful ledger reconciliation:

  • Analysis: evaluating and interpreting financial information, which should also include breaking down the information into various parts to determine their makeup.
  • Comparison: examining financial information for similarities or differences.
  • Substantiation: confirming or corroborating that financial information contained in an account is accurate and complete.

FacilitiesLink Space Functionalization

A part of the Facilities and Administrative Rate proposal calls for the completion of a space survey that functionalizes space across the University so that O&M, depreciation, and interest costs can be properly allocated.  As part of UC Merced's Space Management system, FacilitiesLink, a module is being developed that will allow the University to utilize this resource going forward.

Facilities and Administrative Rate Proposal

As an institution of higher education (IHE), OMB Circular A-21 and 2 CFR 200, Uniform Guidance establish a mechanism for IHEs to calculate, negotiate, and recover facilities and administrative (F&A) costs from federal and other sponsored projects awarded to an institution. F&A costs, commonly referred to as indirect costs, are those that cannot be specifically identified to sponsored projects, such as the cost of utilities or IT services. This rate is negotiated with an institution's cognizant agency, which for UC Merced is the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

As of Feb. 29, 2016, UC Merced's F&A proposal has been submitted to our cognizant agency for review.
